Princess Feather Mini Folio Organizer

This case features the strong yet delicate design of the Cockscomb and Princess Feather pattern. It bears the image of a quilt, created around 1880 in soft pink and strong green against white background. An appraisal note indicates that the pattern is possibly a mid-west pattern dating from 1850. The workmanship is excellent and the uniform fading gives the quilt a soft look.

In 2006, Lois Calvert of Denver, Colorado donated the quilt to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, stating that it had been stored in her mother's cedar chest. The donor's great-grandparents came from Scotland about 1840 and are believed to have settled on the Reid Farm in Northern Illinois. The donor's grandmother's maiden name was Margaret Reid. Reid had four daughters, including the donor's mother, born in 1904. However, the quilt was made earlier than that.
