Circle Celtic Tree of Life Poster Print

As above, so below, and the circle of life rolls onward. This Celtic Tree of Life design features a single curvy line of knotwork branches above a knotwork trunk and root system, with a sacred spiral at the heart of it all. Yggdrasil, Tree Of Life Post Cards

Yggdrasil, Tree Of Life Post Cards
In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil (from Old Norse Yggdrasill meaning "Ygg's (Odin's) horse" is the world tree. Yggdrasil is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources; and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In both sources, Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is central and considered very holy. The Aesir go to Yggdrasil daily to hold their courts. The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations; one to the well Urdarbrunnr in the heavens, one to the spring Hvergelmir, and another to the well Mímisbrunnr. Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the harts Dainn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Durapror, and an unnamed eagle, and the wyrm Nidhoggr.

Celtic Tree of Life T-Shirts

Celtic Tree of Life T-Shirts

Show off your Irish and Celtic pride with these Celtic Tree of Life shirts or gifts for any occasion. The roots and branches of the Celtic Tree of Life are interwoven together to form an endless or mystic knot. The branches reach high into the heavens and the roots dig deep into the Earth, signifying the connection of all things in the Heavens and the Earth. The Celtic Tree of Life symbolizes strength, longevity and wisdom. Trees go through the seasonal changes representing the cycles of life, the birth, death, and rebirth of all living things. The ancient Celts believed the oak was a passageway into the Otherworld. When tribes cleared land for settlements in Ireland, they left a grand tree in the middle known as the crann bethadh (krawn ba-huh), or Tree of Life. It was a spiritual gathering place and source of well-being, to absorb power from above and below. The Celts are not alone in their great regard for trees as sacred living things. Cultures all over the world show respect and honor for trees, and they are a central part of many ancient religious stories around the world. To this day, the Irish countryside has trees decorated with ribbons and prayers to the Gods asking for health, wealth, love, and happiness. h2>
