"Metaphorical Crush" is a series of paintings inspired by all sorts of events and factors in my life recently. Most significantly, they've come as a response to finding myself in … well, a parking lot. You know that Rumi quote – that one that goes "Which is worth more, a crowd of thousands, or your own genuine solitude?" Well, removing myself from that "crowd of thousands" for some reason always led me to an empty parking lot, sitting quietly in my car for the most welcomed, long, moments of solitude. I did it on Eid, on Christmas, on New Year's, and every occasion my family-clan uses as an excuse to get together. When you're family people's like me, sometimes the empty parking lot is the only place to get some silence and peace, and real soul-searching in.
