These mosquito-eating insects are mythically beautiful creatures. In some cultures dragonflies are associated with the devil, trolls, horses or snakes. While in others, they are favored beings. Some Native American societies view dragonflies as symbols of renewal. Japan, in ancient mythology, is known as the Land of the Dragonflies". I think that is a lovely image and I'm glad this little one was drawn to our backyard.
