Oct 1-2, 1941 Evelyn Burleson flew solo 1700 miles from Vancouver, B.C. to Tijuana, Mexico without touching down on United States soil in her Taylorcraft monoplane, Miss Liberty. She completed the flight in 16 and one half hours averaging about 103 miles per hour. Painted on the side of the airplane is the legend, “Canada to Mexico 'nonstop' Goodwill Flight. A statue of Liberty is painted on the fuselage along with the letters WAD which stand for Women Also Defend
