The MG “T” series began prior to World War II with the TA and ended in late 50s with the TF. It was after the War that the TC opened the North American market for MG but the TD, with improvements in ride, comfort and performance, was better designed to expand that market. Of the 30,000 TDs produced from 1949 to 1953, 75% were were sent to the U.S. and Canada.
