Lascaux Horse Posters
A horse painting from 15,000-13,000 B.C. discovered in the caves at Lascaux appears to have lines scrawled on the wall above it, and similar symbols have been found at other sites in France. The work of art itself is in the public domain in the United States, and those countries with a copyright term of life of the author plus 100 years or fewer. This image being a ‘faithful photographic reproduction’ is also considered to be in the public domain; claims to the contrary represent an assault on the very concept of a public domain".
